Growing up in Oakwood on Vernon Avenue and surrounded by the Art Community, I’ve seen many black families and artists pushed out due to gentrification and unaffordable studio spaces.
I deeply understand the issues our community faces, from homelessness and low-income housing to creating affordable spaces for arts and culture, public safety and transportation, as well as protecting our environment.
Being actively involved in my community, I aspire to follow in the footsteps of my two cousins, Jataun Valentine, and Navalette Baily.
